‘And I stood and was silent.
And he was silent.
And I stood, silent.
And he was silent.’
The Russian surrealist and absurdist poet Daniil Ivánovich Yuvatchoff (1905-1942) was born into a family of revolutionaries. While attending Saint Peter’s School, he learned the rudiments of English and it may have been the English "harm" and "charm" that he incorporated into "Kharms". Drawn to the avant-garde he avoided the Soviet state-prescribed literature by exploring futurism and absurdism in writing children’s books.
This quote is from one of his short stories.
The print and logo was hand drawn by Maria Kochetkova in San Francisco.
